What did I read[1, 2]

Hammoud, S., et al., The recognition and evaluation of patterns of compensatory injury in patients with mechanical hip pain. Sports Health, 2014. 6(2): p. 108-18.

This article is one of the best articles I’ve read recently #instant classic. It is laced with great references that support the Hockey Triad concept – common movement dysfunctions /motorcontrol errors can leadto a range of injuries. It is a must read for any professional involved in hockey and soccer given the high rates of groin, hip and low back problems in these sports.

Thoughts

  1. Chronic over-use injuries can be sourced to a few common movement dysfunctions.
  2. 1 motor control error ripples throughout the Kinetic Chain leading to other motor control errors. The trick is to find the driver “COMPLETELY”
  3. There are many potential sources of anterior hip pain but they are likely linked.
  4. Structural changes in the elbow, shoulder and hip progress based on exposure and micro-control errors.
